Bowker develops color-changing inks that respond to environmental conditions and applies these to fashion. She has created stunning garments, like the finned leather jacket depicted in this video that changes color based on heat and wind pressure (or turbulence in extreme conditions), as well as gem-studded headpieces that respond to varying energy levels in the brain. Bowker is exploring these technologies as a way to enable communication with those who are unable to do so by any other means.
