When his mother’s stove is broken for more than 3 years, Brandon Douglas asks “Who is accountable?” When your mom’s cooking is that good, a stove is more than just an appliance, he says - it’s what makes a place home. Brandon took part in our 4-part storytelling workshop organized by ACM in summer of 2022 and then performed on stage at Busboys and Poets in Anacostia. Community members were invited learn the art of storytelling so that these powerful stories can be used to create a more equitable society. Our theme this year was “Housing in the District", as part of our year long focus on housing equity and justice in Washington, DC.
