In 2019, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival partnered with THEARC’s iCAN Technical Theatre Internship program to launch the Tech-Teach Design and Fabrication Skills Program. This eight-week course allowed high school and college students in the Washington, D.C., area a chance to learn elements of carpentry, drafting, welding, and other building arts and help install sculptures in Smithsonian Gardens’ “HABITAT” exhibit.
