This book is based on Lesson's scientific observations and specimens collected during the voyage around the world of the corvette La Coquille (1822-1825), led by Jules-Sébastien-César Dumont d'Urville and Louis-Isidore Duperrey
SCNHRB copy 39088015259690 is unbound, in the original fascicles with uncut and unopened leaves. The fascicles are contained in a contemporary green moire cloth case with cloth ties and gilt-lettering on the spine
