Plates illustrated and engraved by a number of different artists; some of the illustrators include F. Hervé, W.L. Leitch, and Coke Smyth, as well as Allom; some of the engravers include H. Adlard, T. Barber, J.C. Bentley, W.H. Capone, and J. Cousen, among others.
The maps were drawn and engraved by Alexander Findlay & Son.
Each v. has an added illustrated and engraved title leaf.
Collation of each v.: v. 1. , xxxvi, 84 p.,  leaves of plates; v. 2. , 100 p.,  leaves of plates (including a map printed on double leaves, counted as 2 leaves of plates). Each plate is accompanied by a blank tissue guardsheet.
