Drawing on iconographic evidence and oral history, Nevadomsky speculates that the Benin bronze equestrian figures represent the Attah of Idah and relate to the Benin-Idah war of the 16th century in which Benin was victorious. He relates these bronze horsemen to the ivory equestrian figures which are even more clearly linked to Idah.
