Notes:
One of the major manufacturers of textiles for Africa was actually a Belgian (Flemish) company, Tissage de Bornhem, located near Antwerp. This company was in business for more than a hundred years before it closed in 1962. Its collection of textiles and samples were transferred to the Vlaamse Vereninging voor Oud and Hedendaags Textiel (VVOHT), where they are being conserved.
