Regalia of the Atta of Idah not only protects the king but reinforces his political dominion. The objects of regalia, including a bronze staff, brass stool and ritual attire, do not, however, necessarily indicate divine kingship -- a concept which the author questions, challenging Jean-Claude Muller and others.
