Artist's book in accordion fold format with 10 panels, printed on one side only; the direction of the print reverses (i.e. becomes "upside down") on the 5th panel. Fully extended measurements: 14 x 406 cm.
Statement of responsibility and imprint information from laid-in colophon sheet.
A response to William Gilbert's "De Magnete," the first treatise on electricity and magnetism, published in London in 1600. Created for an exhibition entitled "Science and the Artists' Book", sponsored jointly by the Smithsonian Institution Libraries and the Washington Project for the Arts, which opened in May 1995 in Washington, D.C.
