Notes:
Anyamba and Adebayo studied settlement patterns and indigenous architecture in eastern Kenya, a neglected area of research. Specifically, they examined the built environment of the Kikuyu, Kamba, Taita, Mijikenda, and Somali, covering homestead layout, house design and construction, and building materials. They stress the cultural, technological, and geographical forces of vernacular architecture as a built form. More than forty drawings and ground plans illustrate this indigenous architecture.
