Notes:
The nine-day Agbo Remi-Reke festival, which takes place every three years, is now celebrated as a kind of homecoming event for the peoples of Agbowa and Langbasa areas of Lagos State. Agbo Remi-Reke has taken on secular overtones, including performance competitions, a "land regatta," with VIP government officials in attendance, and, tourists with video cameras. Ajayi-Bembe describes the occasion as it is played out in 1989 in Ijede town.
