Summary:
Seventy-one autograph letters signed, two autograph envelopes, mostly on letterhead of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, one autograph signature with verse quotation from Emerson, and one ticket blank completed and signed. Various correspondents include Groom Napier, Hilgard, Hooker, Lewes (husband of George Eliot) l'Abbe [Moigno], Sir Roderick [Murchison], Playfair, Pollock, and possibly Wallace. In addition to social matters, topics include Eliot, Faraday on magno-electricity, Jones, Tyndall's declining the Edinburgh Chair of Natural Philosophy, thermometers, and experiments with magnetism and electricity
