SCNHRB c. 1 has a modern black half-leather binding with marbled paper boards and endpapers, and gilt-tooled spine. Each leaf is untrimmed and has had a blank paper extension added to the bottom, increasing the height of the volume to 23 cm. The final blank leaf is present.
SCNHRB c. 2 (39088008690356; formerly INVZRB) has stamp on t.p.: Library, Division of Crustacea; there is also an illegible ink signature on t.p. that has been crossed through. With embossed stamp on p. [5] (1st group): Smithsonian Institution National Museum; accession no. 154711.
SCNHRB c. 2 has some ink annotations in an unknown hand on p. 155-156 and passim.
SCNHRB c. 2 has blue buckram library binding with gilt-lettered spine and red sprinkled edges; binder's label on back paste-down endpaper reads: Bound by Townsend Book Bindery, New Market, Va. The final blank leaf is wanting.
