The preface (page xi of the first volume) is by Roland H. Bainton.
The designer, Bradbury Thompson, has signed the colophon of volume 3.
Illustrations include 3 original screen prints by Josef Albers, serving as frontispieces, and 66 reproductions of art works selected by J. Carter Brown. The titles of the three Albers prints are: (volume 1) Introitus; (volume 2) Seclusion; (volume 3) Ascension.
The colophon notes that Kingsport Press of Tennessee printed the text and bound the volumes, Fontana & Bonomi printed the reproduction plates, and Albers' screenprints were produced at the Ives-Sillman Studio in New Haven. The typeface used is Sabon antigua by Jan Tschichold of Switzerland, created in 1967.
Issued in a slipcase.
CHMRB copy (v. 1, 39088020204293; v. 2, 39088020204335; v. 3, 39088020204376) is number 252 of the limited edition, with the three screen prints signed by Albers in pencil, including the limited edition number and the date 1973.
CHMRB copy has bookplate: This Washburn College Bible is presented to Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York City, in celebration of Olive White Garvey and Ray Hugh Garvey, 1893-1959, by Ruth Garvey Fink and H. Bernerd Fink, Topeka, Kansas, 1985.
CHMRB copy has the publisher's blind-tooled and embossed burgundy leather binding with gilt-lettered spine; decorated endpapers; top edge gilt; and red ribbon page marker. All three volumes are housed together in a gray cloth slipcase, as issued.
