Title devised by cataloger.
The set includes six hand-colored etched prints, each mounted on cardstock, with sections carefully cut out to create a perspective view when the prints are arranged in a viewing box (called a Guckkasten in German).
This set of prints lacks series numbers and are without text, except for the running footer appearing on three of the prints: "C.P. Maj; I; M. Eng. exc. A. V."
Attributed to the engraver and print-seller Martin Engelbrecht of Augsburg, Germany.
CHMRB copy is the gift of Margery Masinter.
CHMRB copy has the six prints unbound, and housed together in an archival envelope.
Summary:
A winter scene set in a village, featuring two ice skaters on a pond (one having just fallen down), watched by a woman carrying a bundle of branches on her head and a gentleman with a cane, while the woman's companion turns away to tie up another bundle of branches. In the background, two children use sticks to propel themselves on sleds, while a man and woman ride in a festively decorated horse-drawn sleigh.
