Summary:
Women employees in the Telephone and Telegraph Office which was located in the North Tower of the United States National Museum, now the Arts and Industries Building, from the time the building was opened in 1881. Through the window is the Syrian Sarcophagus brought to the United States in 1837 and intended for Andrew Jackson. The photograph was taken in August of 1886.
