Summary:
The Lincoln Gallery in the Patent Office Building occupied by offices of the Civil Service Commission. The building was occupied by the Patent Office until 1932; it then housed the Civil Service Commission until 1963. The Patent Office building was turned over to the Smithsonian in 1958 for its use but it was not ready for use by the Smithsonian National Collection of Fine Arts, now the American Art Museum until 1965. This picture is circa late 1961 or January 1962.
