Summary:
Through the cooperative assistance of the Junior League of Washington, a program is inaugurated for a volunteer docent or educational guide service in the Smithsonian for elementary school children in the greater Washington area. The project is under the immediate supervision of Frank M. Setzler, head curator of anthropology in the National Museum. The Hall of American Indians and the First Ladies' Hall are chosen for the first series of docent tours. On January 25, 1956, the first trial was held at the American Indian Hall, and official scheduled tours begin February 20, 1956.
