Summary:
Laura McKie, assistant director for education at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), visits Natural History's Discovery Room, with its usual crowd of kids in motion. Laura McKie came to Smithsonian Institution (SI) in 1969 as a docent. However, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in anthropology, she wanted to put her knowledge to work. In 1971, she became an anthropology education specialist in the NMNH's Education Department. At the time of this picture, McKie supervised staff in the Discovery Room, Naturalist Center, O. Orkin Insect Zoo and Living Marine Ecosystem.
