Summary:
The following sums are appropriated: $32,000 for international exchanges; $42,000 for American ethnology for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians, including salaries of all employees; $7,500 for the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature; $13,000 for the Astrophysical Observatory; $125,000 for cases, furniture, fixtures, etc. for the National Museum; $50,000 for the expense of heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $300,000 for the preservation and increase of the collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; $2,000 for purchase of books, pamphlets, etc.; $15,000 for repairs to buildings; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards; in all, for the National Museum, $492,500; and $10,000 for constructing and installing elevators in the Smithsonian building.
Also $100,000 for the expenses of the National Zoological Park; and $15,000 for reconstructing and repairing roadways and walks for the National Zoological Park. The sum of $72,700 is provided for the printing and binding of the annual reports and publications of the Board of Regents, the National Museum, the Bureau of American Ethnology, the International Exchanges, the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, the National Zoological Park, the Astrophysical Observatory, and the American Historical Association.
