Report of the Legal Committee on the Freer Will and Gift. The legal committee stated to the Board their interpretations and decisions pertaining to many of the clauses of the will and the codicils and other papers that seemed to be unclear or contradictory, including the matter of the Curator's salary, the maintenance of new objects that are obtained with funds from Mr. Freer, and the use of the income intended for the study of the "civilization of the Far East" and the "promotion of high ideals of beauty," which was a particularly controversial issue.
