Summary:
Thomas J. McIntyre, National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), is operating a Friden Flexowriter, a paper tape typewriter. He is cataloging mammal specimens (squirrels) and preparing data on paper tape for input into the Smithsonian's SELGEM computer system. Squirrel specimens are laid out on trays for cataloging.
McIntyre was a Museum Technician in the Division of Mammals, Department of Vertebrate Zoology and worked on the African Mammal Project from 1968 to 1971. He then worked in the NMNH, Automated Data Processing Program, for the Mammal Division, and left in June of 1974. He then went to work at the National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS), National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration to 2000. He was associated with NMNH Marine Mammal Program.
