Summary:
Letter from Joseph Henry, then a professor at Princeton University and later first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to Harriet Henry, his wife, August 1, 1837. Henry writes from England, and describes his experiences there and in Paris meeting with eminent European scientists, notably Michael Farraday, and observations of early balloon ascents.
