Summary:
Jill Serota-Braden, staff member for the Natural Museum of Natural History's Outreach Program, holds a slab of sandstone for a group of senior women to examine. A geological map is on the table. The program brought museum specimens to those individuals unable to visit the museum. In the previous year, the new Outreach Program facilitated some 4,000 senior citizens and learning-disabled children from ages 3 <U+00BD> to 96 in Washington, D.C. The program grew out of the Van Outreach Program operated in 1978 by the NMNH Office of Education.
