Summary:
Watson M. Perrygo, taxidermist at the United States National Museum, now the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), sits in a boat, outfitted with an outboard motor, used to travel up the Río Indio, Panama. Perrygo, taxidermist, served as exhibits preparator and zoological exhibits worker in the Department of Zoology, USNM, accompanied Alexander Wetmore (1886-1978), ornithologist and sixth Secretary (1944-1952) of the Smithsonian, on numerous bird specimen collecting trips to Panama.The image was taken by Wetmore during their 1952 ornithological field trip to Panama.
