Summary:
Behind the Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB), the "Castle," is the site of the Smithsonian's museum complex on Independence Avenue. The site consists of the four-acre Enid A. Haupt Garden atop the underground complex; the entrance pavilions to the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (Asian Art) (AMSG) with pyramided roof (left) and the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA) with domed roof (right); and a copper-domed kiosk, entranceway to the S. Dillon Ripley International Center (RC). Also visible on the left is a portion of the Freer Gallery of Art (FGA) and on the right a portion of the Arts & Industries Building (A&I).
