Historical photograph of the mantelpiece in situ at the Cornelius Vanderbilt II mansion on Fifth Avenue between 57th and 58th Streets. Originally the mantel was in the dining room, but this photograph depicts it after it was reinstalled in a billiard room on the second floor of the mansion. Photograph was taken before 1925 when the mansion was torn down.
