Summary:
The memorial features the Lexington Market stories of two enslaved individuals in the 1830s. Robert was an enslaved man sent to sell butter in Lexington Market by Maryland Governor George Howard, and his 1833 runaway notice appeared in the Baltimore American and Commercial Daily Advertiser with a reward of $50 for his capture. Rosetta was an enslaved girl who was auctioned at Lexington Market, and the 1838 advertisement for her sale appeared in the Baltimore Sun. Both newspaper advertisements are engraved on granite panels attached to light posts adorned with an archway made of steel and stainless steel.
