Summary:
A nearly nude Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and childbirth, stands in a landscape surrounded by a fawn on her right and a stag on her left. The stag may refer to the hunter Actaeon who was changed into a stag after he surprised Artemis while bathing. Horses graze in the background and in the far distance there are mountains.
