Summary:
An interior alcove with a young female figure seated on a window seat by a fireplace, her attention directed to a book that she holds up in her right hand. Her left arm rests on the windowsill, her left hand gently holding back the sheer curtain, and her foot resting on a small footrest at the base of the window seat. To her right, there is blue and white teacup resting on a ledge beside the fireplace. A small fire smolders in a fireplace, and there are three pieces of fruit sitting on the raised hearth. A mantel that stretches across the outer edge of the alcove is adorned with items such as a candlesticks, a corkscrew, small prints, and a rifle.
