Summary:
Portrait of Varina Anne Davis in the role of Queen of Comus, the oldest of the Mardi Gras organizations, in 1892. She is seated on a chair in a landscape, her body turned to the right, her head turned three-quarters to the right, and her gaze directed off to the right. She wears a long gown adorned with jewels and brocade trim, and her dark hair is swept up on top of her head. She wears a small crown on her head, and in her arms she holds a slender scepter.
