The artist's three daughters are in an interior playing ring toss. The oldest girl (Alice), wearing a yellow dress with white pinafore, stands at center and holds a red ring which she is about to toss toward the viewer. The youngest girl (Dorothy) wearing a white dress with red stockings stands at her side and holds a red ring in front of her with both hands. The third girl (Koto) wearing a blue dress leans over to pick up a dark-colored right. The wooden dowel with two rings and one ring on the hardwood floor is in the immediate foreground.
