Summary:
Ceramic mural at entrance to the library. The work is divided into four conjoining circles. The mosaic shows a tree of life in its center surrounded by icons depicting love and enlighting and representing science, art, literature, and history. It includes 175 historical names and cultural words, among them: Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and Van Gogh. William Blake is quoted; also included is text from Dante's Divine Comedy. The largest circle divides the world into main geographic areas (Africa, Asia, Europe, etc.) with corresponding cultural icons.
