Summary:
Portrait of Mary Elizabeth Buttersworth turned to the left, her gaze directed to the viewer. She wears an elaborate off-the-shoulder gown adorned with ruffles and ribbons. The skirt is adorned with a pattern depicting sprigs of flowers. Her dark hair is pulled up and adorned with a ribbon decoration. In her hands she holds a sheer shawl around her. In the background there is a curtain pulled back to reveal a column.
