Summary:
Full-length figure of a uniformed Civil War soldier stands atop a tall shaft. The figure wears a long caped coat and cap. His proper left hand is on his hip and he holds the muzzle of his rifle in his proper right hand with the rifle's butt at his proper right foot. The three-course shaft is rough-hewn with a castle-like cap. The pedestal has a castle-like cap and turreted, smooth and rough-hewn corners. There are reliefs on each side; crossed rifles on the front, crossed swords on the left, crossed cannons on the right and an anchor and rope on the rear. There are shield-shaped plaques on each side of the base which commemorate subsequent wars through 1993.
