Summary:
Highly decorated marble facade of a building. Carved panels between the first and second floors illustrate the various components of the liberal arts and sciences. On the Peachtree side of the building are busts of Benjamin Franklin; John Ericsson; Cyrus McCormick; Ludwig von Beethoven; Edwin Austin Abby; Sir Walter Scott; and John Ward. On the Houston Street side are busts of William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill); and Fr. Jacques Marquette . On the Pryor Street side are busts of Admiral George Dewey; three unidentified figures; W. Richard Wagner; William Shakespeare; Raphael; Michelangelo and H. C. Hunt. Each portrait bust is shown in profile and is framed with carved representations of the tools the person may have used in his occupation.
