Summary:
Pan is seated on a tree stump with his upper torso thrust forward and turned to the proper right. He turns his head to his proper right and looks over his shoulder. He presses his proper right arm against the stump just behind his proper right buttock, pushing his shoulder up. His proper right knee is bent with lower leg angled back. His proper left shoulder is down and slightly forward as he rests his proper left forearm on top of his proper right thigh and on the head of an axe that is between his legs. He holds a lute in his proper left hand. The sculpture rests on a base composed of red granite stones.
