Summary:
A uniformed Civil War soldier stands atop a tall elaborate column. He holds his rifle in front of him. His proper right leg is braced from behind by a tree stump. The column is ornamented with four carved cannon balls, one on each corner. There is flag in relief on the middle of the column. The lowest section of the column is decorated with fluted pilasters that wrap around the corners. The bottom section of the base includes basins on the front and rear that were once used as fountains.
