Summary:
A Civil War standard bearer stands with his proper right foot forward. He wears a long overcoat with a cape thrown back over his shoulders.There are sergeant's stripes on his proper right sleeve. The figure's proper right hand is on the hilt of the sword at his proper left hip, ready to draw in defense of the flag. His proper left arm is around the flag, which falls to the ground. The soldier wears a moustache and a brimmed cap, turning his head slightly to the proper right. The sculpture is placed atop a three-tiered granite base.
