Summary:
An abstract sculpture representing Martin Luther and symbolizing Christian higher education. The basic design is an obelisk-like shape, with the silhouette of a Gothic arch. The form is divided into four parts, to represent Luther's splitting of the Gothic monolith, and to reveal the "life" breathed into the church. Within the four partitions are "softer" shapes, representing the folds of a garment and "the unique and individual concepts and forces developing and creating a new entity." The sculpture is set within a circular garden setting, with a 24 foot diameter, planned as part of the overall design.
