The information provided about this artwork was compiled as part of the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Inventories of American Painting and Sculpture database, designed to provide descriptive and location information on artworks by American artists in public and private collections worldwide.
Summary:
The upper half of the sculpture is a semi-circular, faceted, upright element composed of flat-sided volumes in the overall shape of a crescent. There is a transverse bow shape or tail-like element which is penetrated by a diagonal upright element. These two elements form a working sundial. The upper section sits on two vertical uprights which are joined together at the top in a manner which suggests legs.
