Summary:
A depiction of a Union and a Confederate soldier embracing each other and standing beside the flag. The soldiers stand atop a tall circular shaft which rests atop a colonnade. Bronze plaques with inscriptions are on four sides around the circumference of the shaft. Marble stairs lead up to the colonnade.
