Summary:
Standing figure of a Civil War soldier holding the barrel of a rifle with two hands, with the butt resting by his feet. He is wearing a cap and a three quarters length coat with a cape. He stands at parade rest, atop a tall, multi-tiered pedestal, which has the seal of Connecticut in a raised medallion. Battle names are lettered on all four sides of the base; there are two bronze plaques on the base; and names of war dead.
