Summary:
A seated portrait of Abraham de Peyster holding a book of New York law in his proper left hand. He is dressed in judicial robes and a wig, and is seated in a chair adorned with reliefs. On the proper left side of his chair is a relief of him on horseback reviewing his troops. On the proper right side of his chair is a relief of a sailing ship of 1717. The sculpture rests on a granite base adorned with a bronze relief of crossed swords, a scroll, and a wreath.
