Summary:
A mother seated in the center of a group of nine children of varying ages. The children are spread out linear fashion on the left and right sides of the mother. Most of the children look toward the mother while two older girls, one on each side of the mother, watch the younger children. All of the figures are barefoot and are dressed in simplified attire. The mother and the two older girls wear kerchiefs on their heads. The mother's head is bent down as she reads from an open book placed across her lap. Her arms are bent across her chest.
