Summary:
A female figure, representing Liberty, dressed in long flowing robes and a headpiece, stands with her proper right arm raised, holding a torch. Her proper left arm cradles a tablet which is inscribed July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals. The figure is placed atop an attenuated base that rests on a star-shaped platform.
