Summary:
Subject is almost full-length, seated in an upholstered side chair at a table covered with red cloth with yellow fringe. One hand rests on table, the other holds a book in her lap. She has a lace mop cap, long brown hair, and brown eyes. Her dress is wine silk with a lace over-bodice and double lace collar, a gold locket hangs on a chain around her neck. Out of open window is a landscape of meadows and maple trees. On right of sitter are heavy draperies with gold fringe, tied in folds.
