Summary:
Portrait of the artist's wife Alice standing in the entrance way of his studio at Shinnecock, Long Island. Alice stands by a round table, her body turned in profile to the left, and her attention directed down to an open portfolio that she holds in her hands. Another portfolio and additional sketches are scattered across the table to her right. Just beyond there is a small staircase, and sunlight shining through a window and door casts a bright glow at the top of the stairs.
