Notes:
While Leonard Mason was attending the University of Minnesota in 1938, he visited the Swampy Cree at the Hudson's Bay Company's Oxford House in Manitoba and, in 1940, he carried out field work among them. The material served for preparing his master's thesis. In 1943, at Yale, he prepared a proposal for the study of the Beaver Indians and collected a small amount of data about them.
