Wheeler Pedlar Davey (1886-1959) joined the Pennsylvania State University faculty in 1909, earned his Ph.D. at Cornell University in 1911, worked for a while as a research chemist, and then returned in 1926 to Pennsylvania State University to become professor of physical chemistry.
